Alright, alright, most iconic Predator of all time is subjective, and there isn’t a right answer… although there are wrong ones, but the Accelerator undeniably has one of the strongest visuals on pitch and for many is the boot of a generation, so let’s take you back to 1998…

The Journey
Since 1998, Pro:Direct have continually redefined the football retail marketplace. The global authority on football performance, innovation and obsessed around the total football life. In 2023 we celebrate 25 years of Pro:Direct inspiring and serving the sport obsessed.
At the beginning of this journey, football was accelerating through radical changes. Arsenal had just completed the domestic double, full of players who were about to embark on a FIFA World Cup tournament in their home country. But in the changing rooms, global sports brands were gearing up to influence and impact the football landscape and it is from here that Pro:Direct Soccer was born. The obsession was to be the ‘Professional’s choice, direct to your door’ – to bring that impact to more players and more pitches. Something that until now had only been available to the professional elite.
To commemorate this milestone, we’ve partnered with one of the biggest brands in the game to release a very special version of the football boot that disrupted the game like no other. It is no coincidence that this particular boot is also 25 years young, but it can’t be underestimated the significance it has to both Pro:Direct and adidas.
The Beckham Accelerator Years
On our lord and saviour David Beckham’s birthday we reveal a special edition adidas Predator Accelerator worn by the man himself in famous, and infamous moments, throughout his career – from that sending off in the 1998 World Cup against Argentina to lifting the treble with Man United in 1999. Those thick Accelerator stripes were a huge statement on pitch in an era where vibrant football boot design was still in its infancy. The Accelerator brought attitude to the pitch – a pull the tongue right down, grow yourself a pair of curtains and get yourself on free kicks kinda attitude.
All In The Details
The adidas Predator Accelerator x PD25 special edition boot takes the original Black/White/Red launch colourway upper from 1998, injects it with chrome and places it on top of a modern day Predator soleplate. New logo on the top of the tongue, old logo underneath, and Pro:Direct 25th Anniversary branding on the insoles of the boots.
