The essence of the Nike Flywire technology is to utilise high-strength threads that act like cables on a suspension bridge, which give lots of support precisely where it’s needed. What happens with the Vapor V is a great case of less is more - Flywire reduces the amount of material required for the upper to the bare minimum without compromising on durability or integrity and support, thus making for an ultra lightweight football boot.
The strength of Nike Flywire technology is created through the specific placement of these threads across the upper of the boot. Thanks to testing and feedback from some of the top players in the world, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Pato, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robinho.
The Flywire fits snugly into a medial panel on the instep of the boot, and allows for more flexibility and adaptability to the wearer's foot. Even though these were designed with the pros, your foot will fit just as comfortably and precisely when you slip on a pair. Grabbing the laces and pulling the upper tighter only increases the fit of this soccer boot and you can feel the Flywire technology working to wrap around your foot - vital for players who want extra support and fit.
The Vapor V continues with a Teijin synthetic upper which is lighter and thinner than the Vapor 4. The boot is engineered with this material as it allows greater moulding to the shape of the wearer's foot. The lace cover remains also, using a stretchy synthetic material to create a very clean striking area. One of the main feedback points from the development of this boot was where the players touch and control the ball at speed, and this has resulted in Nike creating a "speed touch area" at the front of the boot (roughly wear the swoosh sits) designed to carry more grip and ball feel.

Soft Ground (SG) soleplates are specifically designed for use on wet and soft to very soft natural grass pitches that may also be muddy and/or waterlogged. Used worldwide, mainly during winter months, boots made for soft ground have removable, replaceable screw-in studs that can be plastic, entirely metal, or metal-tipped and typically come in a six-stud configuration – four at the forefoot, two slightly longer at the heel.
